ACADEMIC –ASSOCIATE DEAN OF FACULTY OF ART AND DESIGN AT YAŞAR UNIVERSITY– PRESIDENT OF FILM DESIGN DEPARTMENT
A. Şefik Güngör, who was born in Manisa in 1958 is one of the first graduates of Cinema-TV Photography Department of Faculty of Fine Arts at Ege University which is one of the first cinema colleges of Turkey. Starting his academic career as an assistant in the same department, Güngör became a professor in 2007. He has begun working on documentary cinema during his years as a student and was later involved in the foundation of Documentary Film Makers Association and other organisations related to documentary genre. He currently continues his academic life as the Associate Dean of Faculty of Art and Design at Yaşar University and as the President of Film Design Department of the same.
FATİH ENES ÖMEROĞLU
WRITER – PRODUCER – DIRECTOR
He was born in İstanbul in 1975. He is a Senior Electronics Engineer. His business life in the media sector started at Olay TV in 1998. He has continued his career in television as a producer, director and script-writer for 6 years for NTV channel. During that time he produced more than 300 episodes of programs, documentaries and television shows on art, culture and social issues. He then moved to Los Angeles, USA to get education on cinema. During 2,5 years in USA, he has completed the UCLA Extension Film, TV and Digital Media certificate program and had the opportunity to work for several independent cinema films. Upon his return, he took part in the foundation of C Production and Film Company under the umbrella of Ciner Media Group. He is the first General Manager of C Production and Film Company and is the producer of “Güz Sancısı” a feature film shot within the house. He was also the Program Service Manager of Habertürk Television for a period and has written articles about cinema and television sector for haberturk.com news website and Habertürk newspaper. He still continues to work on developing cinema and television projects at ARC Film.
CENGİZ ÖZKARABEKİR
PRODUCER – DIRECTOR
He was born in Trabzon in 1971. He graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Communication, Radio-Television Department. He started his career as a journalist at STAR TV News Centre in 1991. Working for Show TV for a certain period he then joined CNNTÜRK Program Department in 2000 and worked as “Documentary Producer and Director”. Apart from the documentaries he produced in his own style, he has also co-produced the program called “LEZZET DURAKLARI” ( Best Tastes Best Places ) with Mehmet Yaşin for two seasons … He was appointed the Editor and Director of Documentary Department of HABERTÜRK TV in December 2007. He has prepared the weekly documentary “3 İnsan 3 Öykü” ( Three Characters Three Stories ) along with several documentaries he produced with his team. Özkarabekir who is also the “Director of Photography of his documentaries, later produced documentary series “Tek Başına” (Standing Alone) with a distinctive format… Cengiz Özkarabekir has recently been the Program Director of Haber Türk TV and the Program Director of Al Jazeera Turk Television for 3 years Cengiz Özkarabekir is married with 2 children.
NALAN SAKIZLI
PRODUCTIONS COORDINATOR
Born in 1949 and a graduate of İstanbul University Faculty of Science, Department of Physics & Mathematics, Sakızlı has completed her post-graduate studies at Advanced Physics Department of the same university and moved on to the field of documentary cinema in 1980. She has been one of the founders of MTV Milliyet TV-Video company. She has worked with director Suha Arın, a well known documentary master of Turkey. She founded VTR Research Production Directing Company with Enis Rıza in 1987. Nalân Sakızlı believes that, just as other documentary makers do, documentary cinema is a public domain with its products, disciplines of production and ethical values it adheres to as well as its works and occupation which has direct links with the future as much as the recollection of the society. That is why she is still a member of the Documentary Film Makers Association, the foundation which she played an active role when it was founded in 1996. She continues working to pave the way for the sector to develop while she is involved in research, project design, production directorship as well as in the production of documentary films. In addition to taking the responsibility of numerous public projects on a voluntary basis, she has nearly one hundred documentary films that she was responsible for as a production director.
ABDURRAHMAN ŞEN
JOURNALIST – AUTHOR – HEAD OF CULTURE AND SOCIAL AFFAIRS OF İSTANBUL GREATER METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITY
Abdurrahman Şen was born in Hafik town of Sivas on 01.08.1955. He completed his university education at the Turkish Language and Literature Department of Faculty of Literature at İstanbul University. During his life as a journalist, which he started in 1975, he carried out various tasks for newspapers – generally of culture/art content and worked as a columnist. He has published culture art magazines namely “Cemre”, “Beyazsanat” and “Sarmaşık Kültür”. He was the consultant to the mayor at Beyoğlu Municipality of İstanbul from 1995 to 2004. He has 8 published books, “Cemre”, “Hilal’i Beklerken”, “Renk Renk Sinema” , “Son Sultanü’ş Şuara Necip Fazıl”, “İstiklâl Marşı Ve Mehmed Âkif Ersoy”, “ Ediplerin Gözüyle Necip Fazıl ” , “Bir Destan Adam ” and “Türk Sinemasında Yerli Arayışlar” which is published by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Republic of Turkey. He received the “Special Award for Services to Turkish Culture” (1995), awarded by the Ministry of Culture. He has been the founder president, president and board member of various culture organisations. In 2004, to create a library he donated 3500 books to his home-town Sivas – Hafik,. The culture centre and the library in it were built during that year and were opened in 2005. He is the holder of permanent press card, is married and has one child.
MUSTAFA ÜNLÜ
PRODUCER – DIRECTOR
Mustafa Ünlü was born in Ankara in 1963. He has graduated from the Faculty of Communication at Ankara University. After having worked for various magazines and newspapers, he joined TRT News Centre, for 32nd Day News Program. He moved on to documentary cinema in 1989 and put his signature on many films as the director, producer, script-writer. He has given production and documentary cinema lectures at numerous faculties and colleges. A founder member of Documentary Film Maker Association, Mustafa Ünlü still continues his works within the body of Kutup Ayısı Documentary Productions Company and is the director of International 1001 Documentary Film Festival.
