This year, we have been organizing the sixth episode of TRT Documentary Awards, which aims to promote the documentary cinema. The great support and intense interest by both the domestic and foreign documentary film- makers encourage us to enhance our targets and carry them a step forward gradually.
We are going to hold TRT Documentary Days - the event week of the 6th TRT Documentary Awards, to which 350 films from 35 countries have applied- in Istanbul between May 8-12, 2014.
We are deeply pleased to present this year’s “TRT Documentary Honorary Award”, and also on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of TRT, to Mr. Tevfik Şenol who has worked for our corporation as Director of Photography for long years, as an expression of our appreciation for his studies and contributions in the field of documentary.
TRT Documentary Days which will be held in TRT İstanbul Radio House and Notre Dame de Sion High School, would start with a brand new Norwegian film titled “Twin Sisters” directed by Mona Friis Bertheussen. The film is one that should not be missed will be screened on May 8 and 11.
Besides the opening film and the screening of finalist films and interviews with their directors, in the extended non-competing films category, we focus on the cult films of Turkish documentary-filmmaking produced in TRT. In this category dubbed as the “Timeless Documentaries” we also offer you, dear friends of documentary genre, nine documentaries from 1970’s and 1980’s, of which whole film crew is invited along with the directors.
During the week long activities, as well as the screenings of the films, an enjoyable open air concert, a lecture-presentation titled “I Have a Film / Festival Strategies” with the moderation of Rada Sesic and a discussion and screening with Honorary Award Winner Mr. Tevfik Şenol will be offered.
TRT Documentary Days will end on May 12, 2014 with the Award Ceremony and Gala Special Program which will be broadcast live from TRT Tepebaşı Studios.
